FieldLane vs Jobber
Two different bets: Jobber sells reach and polish. FieldLane sells proof and protection. The receipts below are dated — decide which bet your business actually needs.
The pricing model, side by side
| Jobber (observed July 2026) | FieldLane | |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | 4 tiers ($29–$399+/mo) gating features by tier | One plan, every feature |
| Per-tech cost | +$29/mo per additional user | Published at launch — no add-on ladder, waitlist locks it |
| Add-ons | Marketing Suite $79/mo, AI Receptionist $29/mo, Pipeline $49/mo | None — if we build it, it's included |
| Two-way texting | Gated to the Connect tier and up | Included |
| Contract | Month-to-month costs more; cheapest prices need annual prepay | Month to month, one price |

The part that matters in a dispute
When a customer approves a quote in Jobber, the signature is stored as a note on the quote; formal contracts require the DocuSign integration on higher tiers. In FieldLane, the approval is the record: an immutable entry capturing who approved, what options they selected, when, and for how much — including every change order — designed to be evidence, not decoration. Neither platform is a substitute for state-required contract paperwork; only one of them is built as a system of record.
What FieldLane has that Jobber doesn't
- FTC right-to-cancel handling — automatic notices, the cancellation form, a work-start gate, lawful emergency waivers. Jobber has nothing in this area (nor does anyone else — see compliance).
- Per-contact texting consent with a service/marketing split and a consent audit trail.
- Cash custody — handoff confirmations, deposit batches, bank reconciliation, variance by person. Jobber records that cash was paid; it can't tell you where it was.
- Spending authority limits per contact, enforced at approval time.
- Everything in one plan — no tier ladder to climb for texting or marketing features.
Where Jobber is ahead today
- Mobile apps today (4.8★ iOS) — FieldLane's native apps are in development.
- QuickBooks Online sync today — FieldLane's is post-launch (our records are already QuickBooks-shaped).
- AI Receptionist / AI suite — answering missed calls 24/7. FieldLane doesn't have an AI story; we'd rather nail the record-keeping first.
- Online booking, client hub portal, consumer financing — on our roadmap or not yet planned.
- A decade of scale — 100K+ customers and an ecosystem. FieldLane is pre-launch and earns that trust one release at a time.
The bottom line
Jobber has had a decade to build its feature list — and the tier ladder, per-user fees, and add-on ladder that came with it. What that decade never built is the protection layer: approvals that are evidence, consent that survives a lawsuit, cash that can't quietly vanish. Those are the problems FieldLane was designed around — at one price that doesn't creep. Early access is open.
